It’s September! Yes, it’s still hot outside, but I’m getting my home ready for fall. For me, fall décor should be warm and cozy. I keep my fall décor up clear through Thanksgiving, but sprinkle in some spooky Halloween fun at the beginning of October.
When I shop for home décor, I like to look for items I can use year after year, so I try to avoid super trendy items or poorly made items. However, I don’t have an unlimited budget, so I have to find items that meet my criteria without breaking the bank – which can be a challenge! Here are some fall decorations I have in my Amazon cart:
Mums
I absolutely love the way mums look. They are the quintessential fall plant, and when I moved to Alabama, I thought I’d have one of those front porches full of fall mums. Wrong. Mums are so hard to care for, and they’re expensive. I think I spent over $40 for a few mums last year, and they didn’t even make it to mid-October. Sure, I could learn how to care for them; there are tons of tips and tricks all over the internet, but instead, I’m going to buy artificial mums that will last forever.
Decorative pumpkins
Here’s my controversial seasonal decoration take: Pumpkins are to fall as reindeer are Christmas. My home decor just doesn’t feel right if they’re missing. Anyway, like said, I like to find fall décor that I’ll want to use year after year. For me, these glass pumpkins fit that bill. They can easily be added to a little corner to add an elegant pop of color into your home.
Fall throw pillows
I like my fall décor style to be more on the subtle side, and I find that including more simplistic decorative items like these throw pillows gives my living room a perfect hint of fall.
Cozy blanket
When I think of fall, I think of curling up on the couch under a comfy blanket and either reading a witchy romance novel or watching a movie. Is there anything better?
Pumpkin scented candle
And while you’re under that cozy blanket, you have to have a pumpkin candle burning. Those are the rules.
Fall themed mug
Okay, one area that I have no self control is in buying cute coffee mugs. I have seasonal collections that grow larger each year. Travel, holiday, practical – I have too many of each, and I will probably buy some more. Now that my kids are big enough to drink their hot cocoa out of a real mug, I’ll probably buy more. I know I try to live sustainably, but coffee mugs are my weakness, especially when they’re as cute as this little ghost reading a book. Need it.
Fall garland
If you like dressing up your fireplace, this garland is budget-friendly and cute. If you paired it with the pumpkin throw pillows, your living room will definitely feel cozy and fall-like.
